LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Friday sought reply from Ministry of Defense in a petition challenging participations of army officers in the elections of College of Physicians and Surgeon of Pakistan (CPSP).

Prof Dr Abdul Mannan had filed the petition submitting that retired and on duty army officers cannot participate in election of any kind under Article 17 of the Constitution.

The petitioner stated that elections of CPSP will be held on February 21 but the army officers were also taking part in the said election which was violation of the Constitution.

He requested the court to bar the army officers from participating in elections of CPSP. On it, Justice Shahzada Mazhar of the LHC issued notice and sought reply from the ministry concerned.

In another plea, the Lahore High Court sought credentials of Ameena Suhail appointed as member legal at Information Technology ministry within one month time in a petition challenging her appointment made allegedly on nepotism.

Noshab A Khan Advocate had challenged her appointment submitting that on December 12, 2014 Ameena was appointed as Member Legal by ignoring many experienced candidates having vast relevant experience as compare to that of Ameena.

He requested the court for direction to the ministry for withdrawal of appointment notification. He also requested the court to summon Ameena before the court requiring her to show under what authority of law she claimed to hold the office of member legal.
