It is a known fact that a typical large-scale theft of official vehicle’s fuel takes place, more or less, in all public sector organizations both at federal and provincial level.
To steal fuel, including petrol, drivers and sometimes transport section people join the corrupt lot because these corrupt officers of all scales, always try to grease their palm. This narrative, while mostly correct, is oversimplified.
Many young officers/ officials cut their teeth in the fuel theft. For example, if 20 liters are in an official vehicle then 20 liters will be found in a bottle or gallon for a private vehicle or they manage to get cash money from the specified petrol providers who also become a part and parcel of this fishy deal. Every months millions of rupees are caused to the national exchequer by these official vehicle’s fuel thieves.
At present official vehicles fuel theft is a species of organized crime and those in power and authority and people at the helm of affairs in different organizations are fully aware that the problem exists, but never an iota of interest or sincerity is dedicated to eradicate this menace.
