IG directed to set up reconciliation committees

Islamabad-Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal directed Inspector General of Police, Islamabad to constitute reconciliation committees as part of efforts to introduce community policing in the capital city.

The minister issued the directives while chairing review meeting of the Interior Ministry on Tuesday. Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), DG Federal Investigation Agency, IG Islamabad Police and officials of Islamabad district administration and Interior Ministry attended the meeting.

The minister said that sports’ competitions should be held for improving physical fitness of the police. Modern technology should be used for putting in place the system of e-policing, he added.

The minister said that FIA should review the list of tour operators and credible tour operators should be included in the list. Ahsan said that work on computerisation of land record of Islamabad should be expedited.

The facility of online visa should be immediately started and the overseas Pakistanis should be given the best facilities when they apply for identity cards and passports.

He said that the district administration should ensure implementation of timings of marriage halls and one-dish policy.
