ADB Mission visits Lahore, Sialkot
LAHORE (Staff Reporter): Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP) is an important milestone in the development of Sialkot, Sahiwal, Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha and Muzaffargarh said Principal Urban Development Specialist, Urban Development and Water Division Central and west Asia Department (CWUW), Kiyoshi Nakamitsu, at five-day ADB Mission visit to Lahore and Sialkot. City Agreement also signed between Local Government Department and City governments of Sahiwal and Sialkot that will expedite the implementation of PICIIP to develop sustainable urban infrastructure in Sahiwal and Sialkot in the first phase. It will complement the ongoing efforts of the Government of Punjab to achieve sustainable development goals in intermediate cities he added. ADB Mission comprises of Principal Urban Development Specialist Kiyoshi Nakamitsu, Ms. Oyeshadevie SI Thakerodin Consultant, Urban Climate Change Specialist, Charles Felix Simbillo Associate Project Analyst (CWUW) and Senior Project Officer Pakistan Resident Mission Shaukat Shafi.
Tevta, Netsol to train 2000 students on latest technologies
LAHORE (PR): Chairman Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has said that TEVTA in collaboration with Netsol will train 2000 youth regarding latest technologies including Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain (Cryptocurrency) and data management. In this regard, CEO Netsol Saleem Ghauri called upon Chairman TEVTA here on Tuesday at TEVTA Secretariat. In the meeting, it was decided that initially four to six months course will be started for students to train them in all these sectors whereas a separate two-year programme will also be started. CEO Netsol Saleem Ghauri said that currently there is huge demand of youngsters with skills in data management, IOT and Blockchain in local as well as global markets. “Handling data has become a global problem therefore by getting training in this sector our youth can get jobs worldwide.” He added that our youth need to understand the importance of skills.
Irfan said that TEVTA will be the first organization which will provide training of these technologies. He said that future lies in IOT technology. He said that after completion of four to six months course students will be able to earn more handsome amount than masters and graduates. Chairman sais TEVTA passouts have more employment ratio than any other organizations.
PTCL, Telenor ink fiber leasing agreement for 3rd consecutive year
KARACHI (Staff Reporter): Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) and Telenor Pakistan (TP), for the third consecutive year, have entered into a fiber leasing agreement, under which PTCL will deliver fiber footprint to Telenor Pakistan. Prior to this agreement, PTCL and Telenor have successfully signed and executed two back to back fiber leasing agreement in 2016 and 2017. This initiative will ensure delivery of quality telecommunication services for the Pakistani market. This arrangement will enable Telenor Pakistan to utilize PTCL’s extensive nationwide fiber optic footprint and its expertise in deploying, operating and maintaining a fiber optic network. Dr Daniel Ritz, President & CEO PTCL, and Irfan Wahab Khan, CEO Telenor Pakistan, signed the agreement at a ceremony held at Telenor Campus 345, with top management of both the companies in presence. Dr Daniel Ritz, President and CEO PTCL, said, “We, at PTCL, are pleased to sign yet another fiber leasing agreement with Telenor Pakistan for the 3rd consecutive year.”
PTCL has served as a backbone in the telecom industry by providing multiple services; thus, contributing to the overall growth of telecommunication sector nationwide. Telenor Pakistan’s partnership with PTCL will help them in expanding their 3G/4G network, which will enable end customers to have connectivity across Pakistan.”
KCCI team to depart for Mauritius on 26th
KARACHI (NNI): In response to the invitation extended by the Mauritian President Dr Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, a high-level delegation from the KCCI will be departing for Mauritius on February 26 to not only explore trade and investment opportunities between the two countries and the neighboring countries of Mauritius but also seek ways and means of how to effectively penetrate into the huge African market via Mauritius. KCCI’s delegation, being led by its vice president M Rehan Hanif, will hold numerous meetings including meetings with the Mauritian President, office bearers of Mauritian Chamber of Commerce, representatives of Greenwich University in Mauritius, Pakistan’s High Commission and other important meetings with the Mauritian business and industrial community. VP KCCI Rehan Hanif, while commenting on the forthcoming visit of KCCI’s delegation to Mauritius, said that the first and foremost purpose is enhance the existing meager trade volume between the two countries and review the feasibility of routing Pakistani goods to African countries via Mauritius.
Besides having formal meetings with Mauritian counterparts, KCCI delegation also intends to hold informal interactions with Pakistanis living in this beautiful island, he added.
He was fairly optimistic that the visit of KCCI’s delegation to Mauritius would bring the business communities of the two countries more closer to each other and pave way for enhanced trade and investment relations between the two countries.
