The authorities have started crackdown against sugar mills which have not purchased sugarcane at fixed price from the farmers.
According to media reports, General Managers of Baba Farid Sugar Mill and Makka Sugar Mills have been arrested.
The action was taken after deadline ended given by the government.
The farmers have protested as sugar mills refused to buy the crop at rates fixed by government.
