Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Indian deputy High Commissioner JP Singh for the third straight day Sunday to lodge protest with over ceasefire violations by Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary.
“The Director General (SA & SAARC), Dr Mohammad Faisal, summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner Mr JP Singh Sunday and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control and Working Boundary on 20-21 January, when eighteen Indian posts resorted to unprovoked firing with mortars and heavy weapons in the Nikial sector at the LoC,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman said Sunday.
“The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.”
Dr Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate the repeated incidents of ceasefire violations. He urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
