Livestock officials prodded into action

KAMALIA - Officers of the Livestock Department were asked to take stern action against those involved in sale of unhygienic meat.

During a meeting here, Kamalia Assistant Commissioner Hafiz Najeeb directed the officers to ensure cleanliness at slaughterhouses. He also warned them not to show slackness in this regard. People should be provided the meat of best quality. Sale of meat at markets should be checked, the AC said, adding that public complaints concerning sale of unhygienic meat must be responded.


A woman, resident of 739 G/B Jakhar, committed suicide by consuming toxic chemical over domestic issue here the other day. She was rushed to the Kamalia Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment but she died on the way. Saddr police are investigating.

Murderer jailed

KASUR - A local court sentenced a murderer to life in prison and fined him a total Rs200,000 here the other day.

According to the prosecution, Afzal worked at Idrees Rafi Poultry Farm in Kot Radha Kishan. He had demanded Rs3,000 in advance from his supervisor Inamul Haq. On refusal, he got enraged and had allegedly bricked Inam to death at the night of July 31, 2016.

In the light of evidence, District and Sessions Judge Tanvir Akbar convicted Afzal for the crime and awarded him life imprisonment. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on the convict.
