LAHORE -  Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has refused to resign on the demand of a group of religious leaders being led by Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi.

Talking to The Nation Saturday, the law minister said holding protest and making speeches was the constitutional right of every citizen and the government respected this right.

“The calls for resignation don’t matter to me as such demands have been raised for the past four and a half years,” he said, adding that the government was not worried at the sit-in plan as such demos were not new to it.

He rejected any chance of early elections, saying that polls would be held on time and the assemblies will complete their term. “Protests by Pir Sialvi and Tahirul Qadri did not worry the government. Protest is their democratic right and we accept it,” he added.
