‘United’ Opp’s show a total flop: Nawaz

HARIPUR - PML-N President Nawaz Sharif lashed out at his political opponents especially PTI chief Imran Khan during a big public gathering here on Saturday.

Addressing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s huge public meeting, he stated that Imran, who told others that the N leaders would go to jail, would himself be imprisoned one day. Sharif targeted Imran Khan, and said that he always played politics of abuses. “We don’t need such politicians as have corrupted the national ethics,” he said.

Calling the gathering of a sizable crowd a ‘referendum’, Sharif said the turnout of people at the venue was an evident proof of his party’s growing popularity in the aftermath of the Panamagate saga.

The PML-N president complained that Imran Khan and his party cursed the same parliament for which they fight for coming to power. He predicted that since Imran Khan abused everyone for the last four years, he would himself be jailed for such conduct.

The PML-N chief said that he would continue to serve the people. He said that he was fully serving the masses but he was disqualified on the basis of an Iqaama.

Nawaz said that despite the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the federal government led by PML-N was building motorways in the province. He said his party would also undertake development projects in the KP as what he said the province did not belong to PTI only.

“This is not your [Imran Khan] province only. This is our province too,” he said. On The Mall the protest staged by the opposition parties, the people of Lahore showed Imran Khan the mirror, he said. He declared that the public procession was a referendum. He lashed out at the political rivals who united against PML-N despite differences.

“People have rejected the politics of agitation,” he thundered while referring to Lahore grand protest. He said the opposition parties were completely failed in their recent show three days ago. He said, “They (PTI) is the one claiming that they will set up factories and provide electricity for other provinces. They couldn’t construct a single factory nor generate electricity. All the power houses were constructed by PML-N.”

“I am not Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr. Tahirul Qadri who will get scared of an electricity wire,” Sharif said. He further stated, “Did you see their show three days ago? Those abusing each other were standing together. Where did their politics go? Their agenda was to oppose Nawaz Sharif. These are their principles and programme,” he said.

The PML-N chief said that the nation has rejected their politics. He said that Khan ridiculed the Parliament. “I had told you before that that he maligns the same Parliament from where he is earning his income. This man has been abusing everyone for the past four years,” he said.

“I salute to those judges who declared this man [Imran Khan] Sadiq and Ameen [honest and truthful] despite he admitted to owning an offshore company,” Sharif said. He further said that Imran has been saying that he will send people to jail. “You will go to jail if it is the Almighty Allah’s wishes,” he added.

Addressing the rally, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz on Saturday took a jibe at the opposition parties.

Referring to the Lahore protest, she said the opposition parties would complain again about rigging in the upcoming General Elections as ‘vacant chairs’ cannot cast votes. She said the entire team of conspirators was failed to take out the masses in a recently held protest in Lahore. “What the opponents make you to recall,” she posed a question to the crowd.

“They remind us their hue and cry over their failure to garner support from the masses,” she said. She said the allegations of rigging in the elections must not be levelled as ‘vacant chairs’ couldn’t cast votes.

The Opposition has failed to upset the government despite holding a sit-ins and leveling rigging allegations, she continued. Enumerating countrywide projects, Maryam said a triumph of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the next general elections was certain after undertaking a number of development projects.

Without citing an opponent’s name, she said: “In the last four years when you were busy in raging against institutions, while Nawaz Sharif was taking on development schemes.” The revenge of abortive conspiracies was taken by using foul language and cursing the Parliament, she underlined.

“Will you take a revenge of Sharif’s ouster after casting your vote for him?” she asked while appearing optimistic for upcoming general elections.  Moreover, she said the opposition parties were making efforts to skip the elections to evade a defeat. Maryam further claimed her party would win the elections in 2018, saying that when the opposition faced rout, it criticized the Parliament.
