ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani urged the Ambassadors-designate to Lebanon, Senegal, Yemen and Vietnam, who called on him at PMs House this afternoon, to focus their energies on promoting political, economic and trade ties of Pakistan with the countries of their accreditation. He also urged them to pay special attention to the welfare of Pakistani community in the countries of their assignment and strive for enhanced employment opportunities for the Pakistani workforce there during their tenure of duty. The Ambassadors designate to Lebanon Raana Rahim; Senegal Muhammad Abdul Mateen Khan; Yemen, Dr Syed Khawaja Alqama and Vietnam, Shahid M.G. Kiani thanked the Prime Minister for reposing confidence in their abilities and assured that they would do their best to come up to the governments expectations. Meanwhile, Aziz Raheem Aldehani, the outgoing Ambassador of Kuwait paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani this morning at the PMs House. The Prime Minister commended his contribution in further strengthening Pakistan-Kuwait relations particularly in the economic and commercial fields. While dilating upon the existing cooperation between the two countries, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for Kuwaits assistance for the dislocated persons and hoped that Kuwait would continue playing a major role in the rehabilitation phase of the dislocated persons as well as in the reconstruction of the areas affected by militancy. The Ambassador of Kuwait handed over an invitation from the Prime Minister of his country to the Prime Minister to undertake an official visit to Kuwait. The Prime Minister asked the Ambassador to convey his best wishes to the Ameer and Crown Prince of Kuwait and thanked the Prime Minister for the invitation. He said that he would be honoured to visit Kuwait at the first available opportunity. The Prime Minister wished every success to the Ambassador for his new assignment as envoy in Syria and hoped that being a friend of Pakistan he would continue contributing towards further strengthening of Pakistan-Kuwait relations.
