ISLAMABAD (APP) - Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Liu Jian called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Wednesday and discussed matters of mutual interest. Chinese diplomats Zhou Zhencheng, Tang Xin Sen as well Member National Assembly Muhammad Hanif Abbasi Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmad Saeed were also present on this occasion. Talking to the Chinese Ambassador, the Chief Minister lauded the Chinese cooperation and assistance to Pakistan in various development projects. He said that there is a wide scope of Chinese investment and cooperation in energy, transport, agriculture, mass transit and other sectors in Pakistan especially in Punjab. He said cooperation in defence, technology, production and other development sectors reflects the close ties between the two countries. He said that the people of Pakistan are proud of their friendship with China which always stood by Pakistan in the hour of need. He said that signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese company NORINCO for the mass transit project in Lahore is not only an important step toward strengthening Pak-China friendship and cooperation but will also help resolve traffic problems in the provincial metropolis. He said that after the completion of this project, work on implementation of similar projects in other major cities of Punjab on mass transit train project will be undertaken. The CM also apprised the Ambassador of the measures taken by the provincial government for development of education, health, industries, agriculture and other sectors in the province. The Chinese Ambassador Liu Jian said that the agreement between Punjab government and Chinese international company NORINCO regarding mass transit train in Lahore is a commendable addition to the ongoing projects with Chinese cooperation in Punjab.
