Our Staff Reporter MULTAN - Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer Dr Waseem Akhtar has alleged that national and foreign secret agencies are involved in kidnapping of Baloch youth as a result of which the situation is fast heading towards point of no return. Talking to the journalists here on Wednesday, he said that the government had completely failed to recover missing persons. He said that President Zardari announced a package for Balochistan without the consultation of Baloch leaders on which the latter reject it. He said that the federal finance commission did sheer injustice with the Balochs, asking the government to make the process of finance distribution transparent. He pointed out that the land of Balochistan was highly fertile while its mountain were full of natural resources. He claimed that gold reservoirs worth $1 trillion were hidden beneath the soil of Balochistan and Zardari-Gilani duo wanted to sell it out on throwaway price. He warned that the JI would prove an iron wall if the government tried to make any deal on these reservoirs. He regretted that the residents of Balochistan were faced with serious shortage of healthcare facilities as only one big hospital was functional in Quetta. Resultantly 95 percent patients die while on way to hospital, he regretted. He said that it was the height of injustice that only the residents of Sui area were deprived of their indigenous gas while rest of the country enjoyed the facility. He said that the injustice and deprivations forced the Baloch youths to pick up arms. He said that a strong sense of deprivation prevailed in Balochistan as all political government and army leadership tried to silence their voice at gunpoint. He regretted that the Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani had announced to end army operation in Balochistan but it was still underway. He said that despite deprivations, the Balochs were patriot and they considered the residents of other provinces their brothers. He declared that the JI would fight for the rights of Balochs and advocate their viewpoint at all platforms. MEPCO CRACKDOWN ON DEFAULTERS: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) has decided to launch crackdown on its defaulters as the lists of defaulters have been given to the circle offices and officials concerned are asked to cut off the connections of defaulters forthwith. This order was issued by the Chief Executive Mepco Ch while chairing a meeting held to review recovery situation. He directed all superintending engineers to launch a strict action against the defaulters and ensure 100 percent recovery. He issued orders for disconnection of power supply to the running defaulters of three or more months and said that the supply must not be restored till complete recovery. He warned that the concerned SDOs and Executive Engineers would be responsible for line losses and recovery issues. He further directed the officers to ensure recovery from defaulters with outstanding amount worth Rs100,000 or more. He announced 10 percent discount for the dead defaulters or consumers with five or more year default. He said that the meters of consumers using air conditioners should be rechecked and secured. He directed concerned staff to immediately process applications for new connections while out of order meters should be replaced without any delay and send its report to the office on daily basis.
