LAHORE Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has called upon the government to expedite the passage of the journalists security and welfare Bill tabled by the JI legislators in the Senate. In a statement here on Wednesday, he said that newsmen who were the sources of information for the nation, had no protection from the government. During the last ten years, as many as 70 journalists had lost their lives in the discharge of their duties, more than 2,000 had been attacked and hundreds had been injured. Abduction, torture and harassment of the journalists had become a routine matter, he added.
