LAHORE Matric results 2011, set for announcemnt on Thursday, were delayed at the eleventh hour under mysterious circumstances in all Boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education of the Punjab. The results were completely ready. But the Lahore BI&SE spokesman told the media persons that fresh date for the announcement would be given by Punjab government. An officer of the BI&SE said seeking anonymity that delaying tactics were always used to favor some special candidates. However, spokesman of the BI&SE said that the result was yet to be compiled and that was the reason that new date would be given for the announcement of the results. Sources in the BI&SE claimed that there were thousands of the candidates whose results were yet to be compiled and status of their results was Result Late (RL). He said that 17,000 such cases were in Lahore and even more RL cases were emerged in Gujranwala, Faisalabad and other boards. Another officer of the board on the condition of not to be named said that a software engineer who was assigned to develop computerised examination system caused delay in the results. He said that he had already destroyed the examination system of Punjab University and now was deployed here in all boards of Punjab to develop the examination system. He blamed that said officer was an influential man playing havoc with the examination system of BI&SE of all Punjab. When this scribe contacted Dr Majid Naeem who is responsible for smooth running of software of BI&SEs said that results were ready even 24 hours before the given time of July 21. It is up to Punjab government that it wants to declare it on due date or on any other date, he added. He said that names of position-holders and outstanding students were prepared. Punjab government may be announced the results on August 14, he concluded.
