MULTAN - The Punjab Paramedics Alliance (PPA) warned the government on Wednesday that a province wide protest drive would be launched if the notification for service structure of paramedics was not issued till August 1. He threat was hurled by AD Kanwal, senior vice chairman of the Alliance while addressing a meeting of paramedics. If the service structure and pay protection notifications are not issued till August 1, the paramedic will come out and offer all sacrifices to get their right, he added. He further warned that the Punjab Government would be responsible for all losses. He lamented that the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had declared in April 2011 that the service structure notification of paramedics of Scale-1 to 17 would be issued soon but nothing was done so far. He added that the funds had also been allocated in the budget for this purpose but the notification was delayed. He said that the paramedical staff played the role of backbone in health department but they were not given service structure for the last 64 years. He pointed out that the doctors and nurses were given pay protection in recent budget but the paramedical staff was neglected. All the paramedics of Punjab request the Chief Minister and Secretary Health to fulfill their promise and issue notifications for pay protection and service structure of paramedics till August 1 otherwise well be forced to take to the roads.
