OUR STAFF REPORTER NANKANA SAHIB - District peace committee meeting was held at Sport Club Nankana in connection with maintaining law and order during Ramazan here the other day. The meeting was attended among others by religious scholars and the district coordination and police officers. The DCO said while addressing the participants said that adulteration and price hike of essential commodities would not be tolerated especially during Ramazan and strict action would be taken against those violate the law. He also said that the district government utilised all efforts to keep good working relationship with traders, ulema and the masses. He said that a complaint cell regarding adulteration and price hike had already been established at the DCO & Commissioner offices on the instructions of the Punjab government. On the occasion, DPO Dr Haider Ashraf urged the scholars not to use laud speaker excessively, warning that a action would be taken against violators of law. District police would definitely enhance the security measures during the holy month. However, the ulema stressed the need for promoting tolerance and harmony among the people during Ramazan. They also urged the district government to get all the restaurants in the district closed till Aftari time except those near Railway Station, bus terminals and hospitals. The Ulema included Allama Muhib Nabi Tahir, Haji Abdul Hameed Rehmani, Syed Munir Hussain Shah (Mandi Fiazabad), Jameel Haider Shah (Mandi Fiazabad), Abdul Shakoor (Morkhunda) Mian Ijay (Sangla Hill),Qari Rizwan (Shah Kot), Sikh Leader Sardar Mustan Singh, media representatives and others from the district participated in the peace meeting.
