LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting over law and order situation here on Sunday which also attended by Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) passed peacefully due to best arrangements of police. He said that no untoward incident occurred throughout the province including Punjab which is a proof of excellent performance of police and law enforcement agencies.

He congratulated all law enforcement agencies including police on best security arrangements.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that all out resources will be provided for the improvement of law and order situation in the province. He said that police should perform its duties with devotion and dedication.

Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Col. (R) Shuja Khanzada, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and concerned authorities were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of kidnapping for ransom and murder of an 8-year-old boy at Walton Road in Police Station Factory Area, Lahore and sought a report from CCPO, Lahore. The chief minister directed that the culprits involved in the murder of the child be immediately arrested. He also assured that justice will be provided to the aggrieved family.

Moreover, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the news regarding recovery of more than 80 persons from a private jail of some influential persons in Kot Laddah, Gujranwala and sought a report. He directed that a case be registered against the persons operating the private jail and they should immediately be arrested. He also directed Commissioner and District Coordination Officer Gujranwala to ensure proper care as well as provision of financial assistance to the persons recovered from the private jail.

Also, Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting through video link to review the pace of work on energy projects.  He said that government is making serious efforts for resolving energy crisis and power projects are being executed expeditiously. He said that short, medium and long term planning has been made to overcome shortage of electricity.

Shahbaz said that energy was essential for economic, trade and industrial activities, therefore, all out resources are being utilized to resolve the problem of load-shedding. He said that solid measures are also being taken for providing modern parking facilities to the citizens.

The chief minister said that Punjab government had set up a solar park at Bahawalpur first time in Pakistan and had also taken a lead over others by establishing a solar project at this park at government level. He said that initially 100 megawatts electricity will be generated from the solar project while more solar projects will be set up under a phased programme which will produce 1000 megawatts electricity.

 Addressing a meeting regarding provision of modern parking facilities to the citizens, the chief minister directed Lahore Parking Company to provide parking facilities to the people on priority basis. He warned that no further delay will be tolerated in this regard. He said that parking facilities will improve the flow of traffic. Shahbaz Sharif directed Lahore Parking Company to play an active role in this regard.

Meanwhile, according to an official handout, the people have given very positive response to the appeal of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for donations in

Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the assistance of IDPs. The process of giving cheques generously is continuing for the assistance of IDPs by philanthropists, industrialists, traders, assembly members and personalities belonging to various walks of life expressing their confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab. Cheques for Rs 12 crore were presented to Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in a day. The Chief Minister said that those helping the affected brethren in the holy month of Ramazan are earning blessings of Almighty Allah. The Chief Minister assured that the donated amounts will be spent on IDPs as a trust.
