KARACHI - The MQM reinstated the nineteen suspended member of its coordination committee after they tender apology.
After about nine hours of suspension, MQM chief Altaf Hussain endorsed the coordination committee`s decision of restoring the membership of nineteen senior party men following submission of their apology letters to the party head via fax.
A handout of the MQM coordination committee on Sunday said it has restored membership of the nineteen members after they tendered their apologies to party chief Altaf Hussain. Altaf directed the senior party men to focus on being responsible and deal with the workers gently. He further directed them to contact the families of the slain workers and must avoid negligence and irresponsibility of their duties.   
Earlier on the day, the MQM suspended its nineteen coordination committee members for indefinite period over lack of responsibility and negligence of duties. The suspended members were absent at the party head-quarter Nine-Zero during the attendance check made by Altaf Hussain via telephone from London.
According to press release, when International Secretariat called Nine Zero at 11:05 am (London Time 7:5 am) and asked for the attendance report, they were told Deputy Conveners Nusrat Shaukat, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and members coordination Committee were sleeping. These people briefed Altaf that they had just woken up and were on night shift duty. In response to MQM chief’s enquiry, they told him the morning shift people had not arrived yet.
Taking action against the irresponsible behaviour, the MQM Coordination Committee suspended 19 of its members for indefinite period. The members who were suspended included Kanwar Naveed, Nasreen Jalil, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Ms Mumtaz Anwar, Dr Saghir Ahmed, KahafAlwarah, Tauseef Khanzada, Syed Shakir Ali, SaifYar Khan, Adil Khan, Khalid Sultan, Nisar Panwar, Yusuf Shahwani, Aslam Afridi, Aminul Haq, Ahmed Saleem Siddiqui, Abdul Rasheed, Ashfaq Ahmed Mangi and Aadil Siddiqui.
Following their suspension orders, the members submitted their respective apology letters to party Chief Altaf Hussain via fax. They wrote a letter in acceptance of responsibility lapse` on their part adding that the party head will now decide their fate.
SINDH REMINDS CENTRE OF
FINANCIAL HELP PROMISE
The Sindh government once again reminded the Centre to materialise its promise of financial package aimed at strengthening the provincial police with latest equipments in the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.
The Sindh Home Secretary sent a reminder to the federal government about the financial assistance announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif time and again for the Karachi operation during his visit of the city.
Provincial Health Secretary Niaz Abbasi during a meeting held two days ago at the CM House unveiled that he has written a letter to the federal government’s authorities concerned to fulfil the commitment of strengthening the Sindh police. He said that the federal government has promised for providing a package of operational equipments to enhance police capabilities but it was still awaited.
However, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah during a recent high-level meeting on law and order recommended to the federal government for providing logistic support and financial package of Rs10 billion committed earlier to fight against terrorism. The recent meeting held this week with special attendance of the Karachi Corp Commander, and Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad along with other senior officials participated. 
Dr Ebad stressed upon the need to increase the number of police recruitment from Karachi and evolving the mechanism to redress the public complains if any against the target operation. He also recommended for sharing the modalities of police recruitment.
The high level meeting focused on ten sensitive areas of the city especially Orangi Town and decided for conducting combined raids to clear them from terrorism. The meeting decided to enhance security of all important installations to avoid any possible airport-like attack in Karachi, besides recruitment of further 10,000 cops in Sindh Police also was approved.
It may be noted that the Sindh government has decided to increase the strength of Sindh Police and provide effective training to the newly-recruited police personals from the Army instructors.
