The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Cabinet reposed full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Ch Abdul Majeed by endorsing his decision to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervour across the liberated state, it was officially declared.

The cabinet, which met in Muzaffarabad also lauded the AJK Premier’s announcement for “Pakistan Zindabad” rally and Prime Minister Pakistan Nawaz Sharif’s scheduled address to it on August 10 in Muzaffarabad, an official statement issued by the Media Advisor to AJK Prime Minister’s office said.

The Cabinet, the statement continued, fully endorsed these decisions, through resolutions during a meeting chaired by AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Mujeed at Prime Minister Secretariat.

Addressing the meeting, PM Ch Majeed said that the AJK cabinet fully supported the North Waziristan Army Operation and would continue extending support to IDPs. He directed the cabinet members to go on with relief camps for IDPs at constituency and district level. He announced during his address that within a few days medical equipment consignment along with medical professionals would be dispatched for the IDPs of North Waziristan. On the occasion, the AJK premier expressed grave concerns over the rampant traffic accidents and asked the administration to take substantial steps, saying guarding lives of people was the prime responsibility of the government. He also directed for removal of LPG kits from vehicles.

Ch Majeed stated that on August 10, the entire AJK would raise only slogan, “Pakistan Zindabad”, on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to the state. “ A massive rally would be demonstrated to mark the Independence celebration of Pakistan and I have invited all political parties and the people of the state to be a part of it to show our indissoluble relation with Pakistan”, he added. The Prime Minister made it known to the cabinet that not only Mian Nawaz Sharif would address the rally in Muzaffarabad but also would inaugurate Naluchi and Sahili Sarkar Bridges, two mega projects of the city development.

He also lauded the efforts of the AJK Chief Secretary to settle the issues of employees by successful negotiations. However he maintained that the government employees would not be allowed to challenge the writ of the government. He made it clear that financial discipline could not be compromised at any cost and establishment of a corruption free government was among his top priorities.

The AJK cabinet also approved implementing on AJK Anti-Terrorist Ordinance 2009 to tighten security measures and take stringent action against any such act. The cabinet also constituted a committee headed by Finance Minister Chaudhry Latif Akbar to implement the decision of Apex court of the state in case of Imran Ali against government of the AJK. The said case addressed the quota allocation for recruitment of refugees settled in Pakistan. The committee includes Law Minister Azhar Gellani, Rehabilitation Minister Abdul Majid Khan, Auqaf and Zakat Minister Afsar Shahid and senior member board of revenue.

The MDA draft bill 2014 has also been approved by the cabinet. the other significant decisions taken by the cabinet includes approval of increase in pay & allowance of Parliamentary Secretary, AJK Wild Life Amendment Ordinance, formation of committee to assess resumption of Cooperative Bank headed by law minister Azhar Gellani.
