ISLAMABAD-US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan James Dobbins paid separate farewell calls on Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday.

Dobbins and Nisar had an exchange of views on overall security situation of the region besides relations between Pakistan and the US.

“A peaceful Afghanistan is important for the overall security of the region,” Chaudhry Nisar opined.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), James Dobbins also called on Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.

During their meeting, matters of mutual interest including regional security, Pak-US ties and latest situation of Afghanistan came under discussion.

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz also had a meeting with the US Special Representative.

Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan is in favor of a stable, peaceful and united Afghanistan. “Pakistan wants to see a quick and democratic resolution of Afghanistan’s election row,” he added
