PTI Senior Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the nation was still faced with various issued such as loadshedding of electricity, gas, water shortage, unemployment and terrorism despite tall claims of the government.

Addressing an Iftar dinner arranged by PTI Sahiwal chapter, he said that the people have the ballot power. “If the Election Commission of Pakistan tries to snatch the power, it would fail. The sanctity of the vote will have to be restored. We will write history on August 14 to change the prevailing chaotic political scenario. We will enlighten the lamp of hope for the national youth,” he said.

He said, “We want to see prosperity of farmers because they are not getting due reward of their hard working. We want to do something for the country.” Shah said that once the PPP was a great party, but today`s PPP was not a party of Bhutto. It had been buried in Gadhi Khuda Bakhsh, he said, adding that the current PPP belonging to Zardari.

He further said that the PML-N had come to power six times in the Punjab but remained failed to eliminate corruption from the police and revenue departments. Shah added that there would be freedom march on August 14. “The PTI caravan will leave for its destiny. The caravan will consist of the masses, not of policemen and patwaris. If the government creates hurdles, we will resist. No one will stop the march. Come what may, it will continue towards the destination. It is the decision of the masses and no one could stop it. We have complete faith in Almighty Allah in case of hurdle by the government,” he said.

He said that even after elimination of terrorism from North Waziristan, it could be eliminated from Pakistan. He termed it a great challenge and complicated issue. To a query, he said that Pervez Musharraf left the country after striking a deal. According to former prime minister Gilani, Shah said, the PML-N was also part of the deal. Those involved in NAB cases came out through NRO, he said.

He said that mandate was stolen in the name of democracy. “Our protest will be peaceful. The administration should remain impartial. It is our final decision. Because of government attitude and apathy of the Election Commission, we took to the streets. The independent Election Commission should be set up because the present commission has failed to fulfill its obligation and the people have no trust in it,” he said.

He maintained that the PTI condemned the atrocities inflicted on Palestinians while the foreign office was in deep slumber. Likewise, Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Countries have failed to show its presence. “The government was blaming us that we are going to derail democracy but we are endeavouring to restore it,” he said. On the occasion, Mian Farooq Manaika, Jalal Akbar Hotiana from Pakpattan and Mahr Nazar Fatiana announced to join the PTi.
