Battling ‘international establishment’ that backs Nawaz: Imran

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has claimed on Saturday that there is an ‘international establishment’ that is backing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

While addressing a public rally, Imran Khan said that he stood against the ‘establishment’ that is backing the former prime minister. The PTI chief also urged the people to not for independent candidates as they can’t do anything for them. “Independent candidates sell themselves after winning the election,” he said.

Imran also said that he was fighting against a mafia. He said that the US dollar hike against Pakistani rupee is due to the ‘Charter of Democracy’ signed between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

The PTI chief taunted the PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for calling for a new social contract in the country. “A new game is not going to be played in the name of social contract,” he added.

He further said that if given power, his government would conduct elections in the district for Mayor, adding that the people will be given facilities through local bodies election.

“There is a direct election for Mayor in London,” he said. "We will introduce a new municipal system. Developmental works are not the mandate of federal and provincial legislators,” he added.

The PTI leader said that he would strengthen NAB by giving the anti-graft body more authority. Imran said that when Nawaz and family were asked about the source of money for London flats, they questioned the state’s authority by asking, ‘what the state has to do with it.’

“They are acting innocent after stealing Rs300 billion. I can see my fear on Shehbaz Sharif’s face,” Imran said.
