Caretaker govt requests court to ‘hear case against Nawaz after July 30’

Bringing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to accountability court has become a great challenge for the caretaker government and security agencies, sources said on Saturday.

According to the sources, the caretaker set-up, in order to keep itself on safe hand and to avoid any untoward situation, alleged requested the court to hear reference case against Nawaz Sharif after July 30.

The caretaker government will have been completed its tenure and after that it would be the upcoming government’s responsibility to decide the matter. Then, the upcoming government will be responsible to provide security for the former prime minister.

The sources also claimed that law and order is major factor behind delay in Nawaz’s reference hearing. Sources said that the caretaker government feared that an untoward incident could happen while shifting Nawaz from the jail to the accountability court.

The security of Nawaz was not only a concern for the security agencies, but it also became a headache of the government. The government doesn’t want taking any security risk.

After Nawaz’s arrest, the caretaker government had issued a notification that the hearing will be held within the jail premises, which was illegal. The sources said that the court verdict against Nawaz, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Safdar was based on weak grounds and there is a possibility that the court accept would their bail plea after this month general elections.
