Khuhro says forming coalition government not ‘off the cards’

PPP Provincial Chief Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said on Saturday that the decision whether to form coalition government or sit in the opposition in Sindh and centre will be taken after election results.

“We hope to form a sole government in Sindh and in center, but the possibility of the formation of a coalition government cannot be ruled out,” he said, while addressing a press conference at Larkana press club.

Sindh Tahreek-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqa-Jafferia (TNFJ) leaders Waqar Ashraf, Amar Yasir and others announced to support PPP in Sindh and urged their supporters to vote for arrow.

Khuhro said that the formation of a coalition government is a part of democracy and when political parties have no majority, then there is no harm in forming a coalition government.

However, he said that after the announcement of the results of 2018 elections, the final decision would be made about forming joint government because PPP will not be confused to sit in the opposition.

He said people are aware and they can decide who to vote for on polling day and the anti-PPP forces will find out their fate after July 25. Khuhro also said that Bhasha Dam may be constructed on the upper side of Tarbella Dam not after it but it should specifically be for producing electricity and not for irrigation purposes.

He said that the ‘dictator’ government wasted nine years for building Bhasha Dam. The PPP leader also said that Kalabagh Dam had already been rejected by three assemblies because it was poisonous for three provinces, adding, “Hence, it will never be built nor shall we allow it to be constructed.”

The PPP leader said that free and fair elections should be held and there should not be any dishonesty in the election results. He said that running an election campaign is the right of every political party but PPP’s campaign is being hindered, which is a question mark on holding ‘fair’ elections.
