PESHAWAR At least 24 militants were killed and several others got injured during clashes with the security forces in different areas of Orakzai and Mohmand Agencies and Swat on Sunday. According to details, 13 militants were killed and 12 others were wounded in a fresh assault launched by the security forces against the militants in Orakzai Agency. The sources informed that the security forces targeted suspected militant hideouts in Toorsmat, Ghut Kazai and Khokat localities with jet fighter planes and killed 13 insurgents. The shelling of the fighter plane destroyed four hideouts of the militants as well. Meanwhile, four more militants were killed including a key commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) identified as Abid Afridi and five others injured, when explosive materials lying at one of the militants hideouts exploded suddenly at the time when the militants were present there. The blast took place at Sheikhan area of Orakzai Agency here on Sunday morning. The TTP Commander Abid Afridi along with other four militants died on the spot. Besides, it was also stated that the blast also left other arms and ammunition hid in hideout completely shattered. The sources further informed that apparently, the sanctuary was used by the militants to launch terror attacks on the security forces. Meanwhile, 4 militants were killed and 11 other got injured during clashes with security forces in Mohmand Agency and Swat on Sunday. The shelling also destroyed five hideouts of the militants. Likewise, three militants were killed in clashes with the forces in Mangaltan locality of tehsil Charbagh of Swat. The clashes erupted at the time when the security forces were carrying out search operation in the area. Suddenly, the militants started firing at the forces. In retaliation to the firing, the security personnel struck back and killed all the three militants, while a big quantity of arms and ammunition were also taken into the custody.
