SIALKOT - The slum dwellers protested against the demolition of their houses by the TMA Sialkot along the banks of Nullah Bhed near Pakpura locality on Sunday. They blocked traffic on Khadim Ali Road and Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Road by burning tyres. They Chanted chanting slogans against the TMA officials. The police brutally baton-charged these protesting dwellers and arrested two persons Khalid and Bashir. Later, talking to the newsmen, the affected dwellers announced to go on strike from Monday (today). They said that their houses were declared Kutchi Abadi by the provincial government several years ago, besides, giving them the rights of ownership. "We have been living under the open sky in the debris of our bulldozed houses, we have no alternative places in such a sizzling hot and humid weather," they added. On Wednesday, the TMA had bulldozed several houses during an anti-encroachment drive. These dozens of the houses were located along the banks of Nullah Bhed in Sialkot city.
