Pakistan face Australia in Polo World Cup Playoffs semis today

LAHORE Pakistan will face Australia in the second semi-final while South Africa will take on India in the first semi-finals of the World Cup qualifier round of the Zone D Play-offs which will be played on Field 1 of the Royal Pahang Polo Club on Tuesday (today) at 3:00 pm. Three teams from the FIP Polo World Cup Asian-Australasian-African Championships (Zone D) will qualify for the FIP Polo World Cup Final to be held in San Luis, Argentina in October 2011. Pakistan have exhibited superb polo prowess in the World Cup qualifier round of the Zone D Play-offs and topped the points table with two wins and a superior goal difference to India, which had two wins as well. South Africa, Australia and host Malaysia played two matches each with scoring one victory each and lost one match each as well. On the bottom of the table points, there stand New Zealand and Nigerian team which were unable to score a single win and had no points. Malaysia joined New Zealand and Nigeria in the round robin for the fifth and to seventh spots. Remaining fixtures: June 21: First semi-final and second semi-final, June 24: Third vs fourth, June 25: Final.
