All tanoors to be functional by end of June

LAHORE The Punjab Government has decided to constitute mechanical tanoor monitoring committees across the province. Each committee will comprise three members, including the imam of the local mosque, a school teacher (serving or retired) and a representative of the Social Welfare Department, said Sasti Roti Scheme Chairmain MNA Hanif Abbasi. Addressing an official meeting at the Commissioner office on Monday, the MNA said all pending applications for the installation of mechanical tanoors and cases of shifting of venues would be disposed of within 15 days. Abbasi asked the Commissioner (Nadeem Hassan Asif) to ensure that all those tanoors in the limits of the four districts of the division, which have been approved, should be functional by the end of June. He also sought details the Sasta Dastarkhawns established in these districts. The DCOs informed the MNA that all the newly-installed mechanical tanoors were functional. They also told him that no application for the installation of such a tanoor was pending The Lahore DCO informed Abbasi that about 78 mechanical tanoors were approved for the City. Their number would touch 100 mark soon, he added.
