LAHORE To minimise SHOs nefarious activities, the City police have established a Detective Foot Constable system to widen the information gathering network of crimes of all natures. Yes, SHO can 'manage different issues for their vested interests but now the situation will be improved soon, a top officer said on condition of anonymity. He said the SHO enjoyed complete powers and even perform the role of a judge, lawyer and police officer. Now the SP concerned would have complete knowledge about each incident through DFC so there were minor chances of SHOs corruption. In this system, two veteran and reliable police constables were selected from each police station resultantly about 154 constables have been chosen for this DFC system. Each DFC will discharge its official duties in plainclothes and directly reports to SP Operations concerned, insiders said. They said both the selected officers have been given two official diaries including a secret diary which would be presented to the relevant SP, without giving the matter into the knowledge of SHO concerned. Each DFC would visit various selected areas and collect information about the incidents, accidents, murders, robbers, dacoits, car snatchers/lifters, gambling, prostitution and other crimes. Talking to this scribe, DIG Operations Ghulam Mehmood said the DFC was a very positive step. This will improve the police performance besides evaluating the activities of SHOs. He said SPs should have strong grip and knowledge about their locality and the DFC system would assist the SPs. Dogar, however, wished to introduce 'Reconciliation Committees in the City in larger interest of the public. An SP of a local police division also termed it a positive initiative saying this would empowered SPs and encourage them to perform well.
