CHUNIAN - Former Tehsil Nazim Sardar Shoaib Alamgir and his two gunmen sustained critical gunshot wounds when they were ambushed by their rivals here in front of THQ Hospital the other evening. According to detail, former Tehsil Nazim Sardar Shoiab Alamgir came out from the Dera of MPA Sheikh Alauddin in the evening. As he reached in front of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Chunian (THQ), unidentified assailants let off a volley of gunshots from a car at his Pajero KSB-88. The firing was so severe that windowpanes of nearby medical stores broken and passers-by run for shelter to save their lives. Nine bullets hit Sardar Shoaib Alamgir and his gunmen namely Nadeed and Rashid. They sustained critical wounds and were referred to Lahore where according to doctors their life was in danger. Meanwhile, Chunian DSP Rana Azam and SHO Phool Khan rushed to the spot and gathered necessary evidence. When The Nation enquired about the reason behind the attack, DSP Rana Azam said that Sardar Shoiab has a number of enmities in the area and he had been involved in litigation with a number of parties on different issues. He pointed out that a number of people had been fallen victim to these enmities so far. Apparently the attack is the result of bad blood that has been going on between the former Nazim and his opponents. Situation in the city is tense and the incident has also exposed the fragile law and order. The citizens have demanded the Kasur DPO to take notice of the rising violence in the city and take appropriate steps to ensure safety of their lives.
