OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE LESCO Employees Pegham Union leaders have said that the administration of LESCO and PEPCO were committing contempt of court by supporting unregistered Hydro Union. Supreme Court in its decision on June 2 had declared that IRA-2008 had been abolished since April 30, so no trade union at national level had its existence now, said Union Chairman Ihsan Ch while addressing the protest of the employees staged at LESCO Head office here on Monday. Despite this, the administration cut the union fund of worth Rs 2.8 million per month and were paying this amount to non-registered Hydro Union, they alleged. This was the clear violation of the Supreme Courts decision and the Chief Justice of Pakistan should take notice of the matter, they appealed. The office bearers of the Union said that after the 18th amendment, the labour laws and trade unions were not under jurisdiction of federal government. They said only Pegham Union was registered with the LESCO and demanded that the favouritism for the non-registered union from the administration must be stopped now. They threatened to continue protest until their demands were not met.
