MIRPUR (AJK) - Taking the entire political spectrum by surprise, PML-N candidate from LA-III Mirpur City Arshad Mahmood Ghazi Monday announced his retirement from politics besides boycotting and withdrawing from the candidature of the party for contesting the scheduled June 26 AJK general elections. He has taken the decision in protest against the alleged hostile and hypostatic attitude of top PML-N AJK leader and former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikander Hayat Khan. The PML-N AJK leader and former prospective candidate of the party in Mirpur city (LA-III) constituency Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed and the local party activists including Farrukh Dar, Nehmat Shehzad, Farooq Mir, Khawaja Munir, Sajid Qureshi, Raja Shehzad, Mirza Basharat and others also spoke on the occasion and resented the cancellation of the scheduled Mirpur election rally of the party on Monday. They were of the view that the PML-N rally should have to be held according to the schedule. Arshad Ghazi who was former health minister in previous Muslim Conference regime, made the announcement while addressing his party workers at Ghazi Manzil here Monday morning. He said that he took the decision to boycott and withdraw from contesting the election as the PML-N candidate by returning the party ticket to the party leadership as a protest against sabotaging through getting cancelled the scheduled party election rally, which was to be held at Mirpur Cricket Stadium at 3:00pm on Monday in connection with his electioneering and had to be addressed by PML-N Supremo Mian Nawaz Sharif, on the part of the PML-N AJK leader Sardar Sikander Hayat Khan. Lambasting Sikander, Arshad Ghazi said that he made the hastily decision to retire from politics after having been utterly sick of traditional hypocratatic approach of Sardar Sikander Hayat Khan, who, he alleged, had hatched under-hand deals with the PPP candidate Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, his closest rival in the elections, with prime motives to get him (Ghazi) defeated in the elections. Ghazi maintained that under the pre-planned deep under-hand Sikander-Barrister Sultan conspiracy, Sikander Hayat manoeuvred for the cancellation of his aforesaid scheduled PML-N Mirpur Monday election rally at the 11th hours, which was to be addressed by the PML-N chief, for the accomplishment of his (Sikander) ulterior motives to get him defeated in the polls, by misguiding the PML-N leadership. Arshad Ghazi said that it had been principally decided by the PML-N top leadership to hold the major public meetings, to be addressed the partys chief, at all divisional headquarters of Azad Jammu Kashmir, in connection with the election campaign of the partys candidates for June 26 AJK Legislative Assembly elections.
