NOORPUR THAL -The heavy spells of rain submerged various major city roads, causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and motorists. The downpour also exposed the TMA working whose officials could not drain out the rainwater from various city parts. Noorpur Thal received 36 mm of rain. The In-charge of observatory system predicted more rain and thunderstorms for the next 24 hoursin Thal. The heavy rain in the city hit the ever-ill-prepared TMA, creating pools of water on roads after which worst traffic jams were witnessed on almost every major road, especially on Ranpur Road and Jharkil Road. Many streets in the adjacent localities were inundated with rainwater, exposing the bad planning of the departments concerned. Kashmir Chowk, Hashmi Chowk, Tehsil Chowk, Hussain Abad, Farooq Abad, Dhup Sari, Lal Colony, Officer Colony and Post Office Chowk were among the affected localities. The water entered several houses due to the delay in work of new sewerage lines. During and immediately after the rain, a number of motorcyclists and motorists were found stuck at various spots including the roads, major business centers and commercial areas too witnessed inconvenience as traffic remain stuck there due to rain. The TMA spokesperson said that the people faced problems due to rain but the officials concerned tried their level best to flush out the rainwater accumulated in various parts of the city. The TMA had started a comprehensive plan to combat the rain-related problems, he claimed. Persistent power cuts irk people: The unscheduled loadshedding has been annoying citizen of the area and causing severe problems for them. Fluctuation and voltage variations are problems of the people nowadays. Reportedly, electricity breakdowns by the Wapda authorities for up to 20 hours have crippled the routine life and have brought social and economic activities to a stand still. On the other hand, due to long hour loadshedding, dacoits and robbers have disrupted peace of mind of the common man during darkness of nights. The long hours loadshedding is hampering the students to prepare for examination. Malik Alam Sher China, A social worker, Advocate Raja Muhammad Ashraf Hayat, Malik Khalid Iqbal Awan and Muhammad Amin, demanded the Wapda authorities that power outage scheduled should be given and power cuts duration should also be reduced. The people of Thal demand to stop the unjust loadshedding. The people of the tehsil are tense and they said if the government did not take any step to reduced power cut they will come on roads to raise voice as a protest. PML-N to eliminate thana culture: MPA Malik Muhammad Waris Kallu said that the PML-N was working for elimination of thana culture from politics with the active support to the masses. He was addressing a public meeting at Rada Thal here the other day. He said the PML-N government believed in the politics of reconciliation and it would continue its efforts fro the purpose. Waris Kallu said the PML-N would win the AJK elections with a thumping majority with the peoples mandate and the power of vote. On the occasion, Arif Kashmiri a social worker and his other companions also announced to support the PML-N candidate in the AJK election. A delegation from Thal gave a briefing to MPA, about the major problems of the area. The delegation was comprised of former Nazim Akhtar Hussain, Advocate Majid Ullah Khan, President Union of Journalists Raja Noor Ilahi and former councillor Malik Khalid Iqbal Awan.
