ISLAMABAD- Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar started the process to move the Finance Bill 2014, today, which was opposed by Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Dr. Azra Fazal.
Ishaq Dar argued that the appointments in different departments were being made on the basis of merit. In addition, he also reasoned that the major focus of the budget was on the people living below the poverty line.
The Finance Minister added load shedding is expected to end during the tenure of the government. For this purpose, not only different projects have been initiated but a campaign has also been launched against theft of electricity and gas. Moreover, there has been a thirty percent increase in oil production during the last one year so that the country’s oil and gas requirements can be met efficaciously.
More funds are being allocated to the Benzair Income Support Program and minimum pension has also been significantly increased.
