RAWALPINDI - The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) in one of its biggest ever catch in one day has seized 11 tons of drugs in seven countrywide operations, besides nabbing 10 persons.

The force also impounded 3 vehicles being used for transportation of drugs, value of which was told to be Rs 26 billion in the international market, informed ANF spokesman here on Saturday.

According to him, ANF has carried out 7 operations in different parts of the country and recovered huge quantity of narcotics including 10.6 ton hashish, 517-kg morphine, 55-kg opium and 930 grams methamphetamine (ice).

The operations also resulted in seizure of 3 vehicles and arrest of 10 persons involved in drug trafficking. Most of the recovered drugs were intended to be smuggled to foreign destinations. The current drug seizure is biggest ever catch in one day, he said.

He added that ANF Quetta launched an intelligence-based operation at Killi Salman Khel, Tehsil Gulistan, Qilla Abduallah, and seized 7830-kg hashish. As per preliminary reports, the drug consignment was to be shifted to coastal area of Sindh for final disposal to some foreign location across the sea, he said.

Similarly, ANF Quetta seized 517-kg morphine from uninhabited area of Killi Sobian, Tehsil and District Chaghi.

In Karachi, ANF carried out a successful intelligence led operation and stopped a passenger bus registered (TKU-042) near Hub River Road, Raees Goth, Karachi. During detailed search of the vehicle, 2758-kg hashish and 55-kg opium was recovered from improvised cavities created beneath the floor of the bus, the ANF spokesman informed.

He said that ANF Rawalpindi road-check team during in information based operation, arrested a professional drug carrier named Ajab Din, resident of Kohat, at Haji Shah Morr, GT Road, Attock, and recovered 6-kg hashish concealed in his luggage. ANF Rawalpindi road check team intercepted a motorcyclist named Imran Khan, resident of Jhelum, at Jada Chowk, GT Road, Jhelum, and recovered 1.2-kg hashish from his personal possession.

ANF Peshawar captured a Honda Civic car (B-5960) near Bilour Plaza, Saddar Peshawar, and recovered 450 grams methamphetamine (ice) tactfully concealed in a bag, he said adding that ANF Peshawar intercepted a Toyota Corolla car (CX-645) near Railway Phatak, Bara Road, Peshawar and recovered 480 gram Methamphetamine (Ice) and 40 gram heroin tactfully concealed in a suit case.

He said that cases have been registered against all the detainees with respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations were under process.
