LAHORE - Asking the government to seek apology from the nation for not fulfilling its promises, the opposition parties have demanded immediate reduction in long power cuts during Ramazan.

PML-Q Punjab president Ch Pervaiz Elahi, PTI Punjab organiser Ch Sarwar, PAT central president Dr Raheeq Abbasi and JI secretary general Liaquat Baloch made these remarks in separate statements on Saturday over the horrific situation of loadshedding in the country during Ramazan including Sehr and Iftar timings.

Expressing his opinion over the issue, Pervaiz Elahi remarked that the government has broken all previous record of loadshedding. What is more teasing is that the rulers after promising the public that no loadshedding would be carried out at Sehr and Iftar time, he commented.

“The faithful are facing severe problems as they don’t get water at Sehr and Iftar times due to loadshedding,” he added.

Elahi claimed that the government has not launched a single project which could reduce power outages, as projects like Nandipur and others are just eyewash.

Former governor Ch Sarwar, commenting over the issue, asked the rulers to seek an apology from the nation over complete failure in fulfilling its promises. “Loadshedding and price hike is on the rise during the holy month but rulers are apathetic to the problems of masses,” he added.

He claimed that it was unfortunate that the rulers had no vision to overcome the prevailing crises in the country including loadshedding and their prime focus is only to complete their term in office. Sarwar said that the rulers were habitual of giving aggressive statements on various issues without considering the reality.

PAT leader Raheeq Abbasi demanded immediate reduction in the power cuts and removal of the federal minister and State Minister for Power for their utter failure to deal with the situation. He also asked the prime minister to explain the reasons behind the unscheduled loadshedding, despite his clear orders.

He warned the government of protest drive if failed to end loadshedding during Sehr, Iftar and Taraveeh times.

“The masses want to know the fate of Nandipur Power Project, Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park and several MoUs signed for power projects,” he maintained.

JI secretary general, Liaqat Baloch in his brief statement, expressed his concern over the issue of long power cuts. He said that it was strange that problem of loadshedding has worsened after the Prime Minister’s announcement to reduce the load shedding.
