KARACHI- Scorching sun killed at least 45 people in Karachi, officials said today, as residents grapple with frequent power outages and water scarcity during Ramazan.

The city saw temperatures reach as high as 45 degrees Celsius. “Thirty people were brought dead and 15 died shortly after they reached the hospital,” Dr Seemin Jamali, the head of the emergency department at Jinnah Hospital, told.

“They all died of heat stroke,” she said.

The summer is turning out to be one of the hottest in the history of Pakistan.
