Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that state of the art Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital Peshawar would be functional during the ongoing year.

Speaking at Iftar dinner arranged for fundraising for the cancer hospital, the PTI chairman said that support of public at large played a major role in establishment of the hospital in Peshawar like the one in Lahore. Shahid Butt, Anjum Nisar, Danish Monnu, Zahid-ur-Rehman and Irfan Iqbal sheikh arranged the function moderated by renowned artist Aisha Sanna. Imran Khan donated Rs1.5 million for Zakat fund. Imran Khan said that SKMCH was the only institution in the world providing free treatment to 70 percent of the cancer patients.–Staff Reporter

He said that people were not sure about completion of the project when he announced to establish a cancer hospital in Lahore about 20 years back.

“Now thousands of cancer patients have recovered with the financial support of public at large”, he said.

SKMCH Chief Executive Officer Dr Faisal Sultan briefed the participants about past achievements and future plans.
