FAISALABAD - Two minor were killed while taking bath in separate incidents in and around the city during the last 24 hours.
Police said on Sunday that 8-year-old Abdullah son of Muhammad Naveed, resident of Lahori Chowk Jhang Road was taking bath in a shallow water of a pool when he slipped and drowned in deep water. Rescue-1122 rushed the spot and shifted the boy to hospital where he breathed his last.
Meanwhile, 9-year-old Adnan, resident of Chak No. 272-GB was taking bath in a tube well when he received a fatal electric shock after he touched the tube well accidently and died on the spot. Police have handed over the bodies to their relatives after completing necessary formalities.
In another incident, two young girls committed suicide in various parts of the district during the past 24 hours.
Police said on Sunday that 20-year-old Nadia, resident of Chak No. 583-GB was residing in a hostel of a local mill situated at Sheikhupura Road where she swallowed poisonous pills after an exchange of harsh words with her family members on phone.
Meanwhile, Amina Bibi (24), resident of Chak No.549-GB ended her life after taking poisonous substance over a domestic dispute. Police were looking into the matters.
Two bike riders die in Sahiwal road mishap
Two motorcycle riders were killed in hit and run accident here on Sunday, police said.
According to details, two brothers hailing from Loharan Wala Khoo area of Lahore were on visit to Sahiwal to attend a funeral procession of a close relative.
While returning back to Lahore, the motorcycle was knocked down by an unknown vehicle in suburbs of Sahiwal city resultantly Muhammad Mushtaq and Muhammad Iqbal were killed on the spot.
The bodies were shifted to hospital where they were handed over to heirs after legal formality. The police after registering a case against unknown driver had started an investigation.
Two bodies found
Two corpses were found in various parts of the district during the last 24 hours.
Police said on Sunday that some passersby witnessed a corpse of 65-year-old man lying at a deserted place in Jinnah Colony and informed the Gulberg police.
The police took the body into custody and shifted it to mortuary for postmortem.
Meanwhile, Rescue-1122 fished out a body of 50-year-old man from Rakh Branch Canal near Roshanwala Bypass and handed it over to the Dijkot police. The identity of bodies has yet to be established. Further investigation was underway.
45 profiteers fined
Special price control magistrates on Sunday imposed Rs81,000 as fine on 45 shopkeepers for profiteering in various parts of the city.
A spokesman for the local administration said that price control magistrates inspected 1025 shops in 58 markets and bazaars and found 45 shopkeepers involved in overcharging and imposed a fine of Rs81,000 on them.
