Woman burnt by in-laws dies; husband held

LAHORE - A woman, who was set on fire by her in-laws in Harbanspura, succumbed to her burns here on Sunday. Harbanspura Police said that the in-laws of Guria Bibi (35) had poured petrol over her and set her ablaze. She was moved to Jinnah Hospital, Lahore in critical condition where she succumbed to her burns. According to doctors, the woman’s body was completely burnt. The police registered a case against Guria Bibi’s husband Shehzad and an accomplice of him named Iqbal on the report of Muhammad Saleem, brother of the woman. The police also arrested Shehzad and handed him over to the investigation wing of police for further investigation. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani took notice of the gruesome incident and sought a report from CCPO Lahore. He ordered the police authorities to take strict action against the accused.
