EDF approves 22 projects worth Rs 1.12 billion

ISLAMABAD - The Board of Administrators of the Export Development Fund (EDF) approved 22 projects worth Rs 1.12 billion relating to promotion of exports in various sectors. The projects were approved in the Board of Administrators' 54th meeting, held on Friday under the chair of Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Federal Minister for Commerce. These projects includes organising Expo 2008 by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, allocation of additional funds for freight subsidy scheme, allocation of additional funds for assistance for opening exporters' offices abroad, Assistance for mandatory certification, facilitation for pharmaceutical exports, and establishment of college of fashion and design at Karachi. The board also took notice of the implementation status of the previous meetings and a review of the current funding position. Secretaries of the ministries of Commerce and Textile Industry, Chief Executive, TDAP, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, State Bank of Pakistan, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, President of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry and chairmen of different trade associations attended the meeting.
