RAWALPINDI-Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi No2 Friday remanded Shahid Jameel Riaz another suspect in Mumbai attacks in India last year, to the physical custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for 11 days here on Friday. The FIA obtained the suspect's physical custody to interrogate him for his alleged involvement in Mumbai attacks after the investigators sought 15-day remand of Shahid Jameel Riaz a resident of Bahwalpur from the Special Judge ATC Sakhi Muhammad Kahot. According to sources, Shahid is an active member of a banned organisation Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT) and involved in planning terrorist attacks in Mumbai on November 26 last year killing over 100 people. The sources told that the suspect was arrested from Chakwal by the law-enforcement agencies on March 19. He was brought to the court in tight security in an armour personnel carrier (APC) and police commandos escorted the vehicle and cordoned off the area around the court. It is pertinent to mention here that the trial of four already arrested suspects Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi a resident of Islamabad, Abdul Wajid alias Zarar Shah a resident of Sheikhupura, Mazhar Iqbal alias Abu al-Qama a resident of Islamabad and Hammad Amin Saddiq a resident of Karachi was being conducted in Adiala Jail in connection with a case registered last month about the attacks in India. Meanwhile, the court sent a man suspected for alleged involvement in suicide attack on the bus of an intelligence agency in November 2007 to Adiala jail for five days for identification parade after police said he was arrested on Thursday. According to the submission of New Town Police, Amir Khan alias Khalid a resident of Rawalpindi was declared proclaimed offender by the court for he was allegedly involved in the suicide attack on the intelligence bus outside Hamza Camp on Murree Road on the morning of November 24 2007 when 17 men were killed. The investigators said the accused should be sent to the jail for identification parade for 11 days but the court gave five days as it would take up the hearing in the case against six men Niaz Ahmed alias Dr Saqib alias Akhtar a resident of Rawalpindi, Shafiqur Rehman a resident of Mardan, Muhammad Mazharul Haq alias Ahmed alias Jani a resident of Islamabad, Syed Abdul Majid, Syed Abdul Saboor and Syed Abdul Basit all three residents of Lahore again on March 25.
