ISLAMABAD - The PST is the solitary organisation, which has been supporting the national sports federations for last four years to meet the financial challenges and has helped out various federations in hiring foreign coaches, arranging overseas trips, providing international standard equipment and holding coaching courses in the country. A source informed this correspondent that the PST and the POA has been served a notice by the PSB to vacate its offices before March 23, 2009. It was learnt that first two PSB directors verbally directed PST to do so, and then a formal notice was issued. An official of a national sports federation, of course on conditions of anonymity, termed this as "slaughter to sports in the country". Only recently, the PSB had taken a similar action against five federations - including Pakistan Kabaddi Federation, Pakistan Rowing Federation, Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), Alpine Club of Pakistan and Pakistan Volleyball Federation. "But the PSB only got a lot of egg on its face by revering the decision and the offices of these federations are staying put in the premises of Pakistan Sports Complex, "commented a federation high-up. The PSB, said the federation representative, was not serving sports through such ugly steps. "The sports organisations should be at the Jinnah Sports Complex. It's too big for PSB in any case. "Such tactics may only create differences between POA and PSB at a time when they should be working hand in hand to promote our sports. This will also disturb the national players and certainly their performance is likely to suffer, "he viewed.
