2 terrorists held, 200kg explosives recovered

LAHORE - Raiwind police Saturday claimed to have arrested two alleged terrorists and recovered about 200kg explosives with six suicide jackets and other weapons from their possession. According to reports police team raided a house on tip off and arrested alleged terrorists Qari Saif and Qari Ibrahim and shifted them to some unknown places for further investigation. Meanwhile some unidentified persons killed a security guard of Kala Daiwala and injured another security guard with indiscriminate firing in an old enmity in Islampura police jurisdiction on Saturday. Police said Kala Daiwala, resident of Sanda was on a way in his vehicle with his two security guards Munawar and Zahir, as they reached Bund Road, suddenly two persons on motorcycles loaded with weapons appeared and opened firing on the vehicle and escaped from the scene. As a result of firing, Kala and his security guards received sever bullet injuries and were rushed to the hospital by the locals where Munawar succumbed to his injuries. Later police reached the spot and registered a case against unidentified accused on the complaint of Kala and sent the body of Munawar to the morgue for autopsy and started investigation of the case. Protest A protest demonstration was held outside the Lahore Press Club here Saturday by National Students Federation against the murder of a student in Peshawar University. President NSF Muhammad Ikram addressing the protesting blamed IJT for introducing culture of weapon and vandalism in the educational institutions. He said NSF condemns this terrorist act in Peshawar University and demanded of the government to take note of the matter. Change of system demanded It is essential to change the system instead of changing the finance minister for betterment of the economic condition. This has been stated by Ibtisam Ilahi Zaheer, Nazim Ala Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees here on Saturday. He said demonstrations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi showed how seriously the people entrenched in problems but the rulers were not interested to solve their woes. He asked the government to resolve the problems instead of dubbing demonstrations conspiracies. Rally today Model Town Residents Association is holding a protest rally on Sunday (today) at 4:00pm here in front of main Round About, Model Town. Central Part, against the non-payment of compensation to the K-Block Bomb Affecters, removal of sensitive government office from residential area and illegal commercialization in Model Town.
