MACHH (APP) - At least 20 inmates were wounded, some of them seriously, in a clash between two groups of prisoners over the use of drugs in Machh Central Jail on Saturday evening. According to the jail officials, the fight erupted when a group attacked one of the members of a rival group over narcotics, although the prisoners had pledged not to use any such item within the prison. The attack triggered a clash between the two groups, which resulted in injuries to 20 inmates, as they went on a rampage and ransacked the barracks. The injured included Karim Bakhsh, Mumtaz, Abdul Karim, Abdul Rehman, Nazeer Ahmed and others. Jail authorities and district police were making efforts to defuse the tension. However, despite several attempts, the jail superintendent was not available for his comments.
