LAHORE - Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif has directed all district and sessions judges in Punjab & Islamabad to facilitate handicapped and disabled persons regarding appearance in courts for hearing of cases. The chief justice has passed the orders in view of the difficulties and hardships faced to disabled person. The chief justice directed that disabled persons should not be forced to enter appearance in person before courts to prosecute and defend a case in any court. Showing his concern, fellow-feeling for disabled persons and giving regard to social duty toward such persons the CJ passed directions that ramps be constructed in the court of chief justice at LHC also and all other subordinate courts in Punjab so that they may enter courts sitting in their wheel chairs if they wanted to come for hearing the proceedings of cases relating to them. The chief Justice also observed that cases of such handicapped persons should be heard earlier than other cases on the day of hearing. Besides the CJ said the cases of disabled persons be fixed in the court which are housed at ground flour so that they may not face any hardships of climbing stairs.
