LAHORE (APP) - The government is working for women empowerment and providing them with maximum opportunities to progress. These views were expressed by Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, adviser to the Punjab chief minister, Saturday at the opening ceremony of Bahar Rang 2010 at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She said the government had chalked out many programmes for their development and many schemes were underway to help women work independently. MoU on human rights signed The Department of Human Rights, Minority Affairs and Government College University Faisalabad signed a memorandum of understanding on human rights. Addressing the ceremony, Arshad Bin Ahmed, Provincial Secretary for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs, said human rights were on top of the government agenda, According to a handout issued here on Saturday. He said the government was trying to ensure equal rights to all sections of society so that the country could progress. The principal of Government College University and other officials of the department of human rights were also present.
