LAHORE - Punjab Minister for Finance, Planning and Development Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that there is a need to promote real tax culture in the country in order to get rid of foreign loans. Talking to newsmen at his office on Saturday, he said if people of the country adopt tax culture, then Pakistan would be included in progressive countries within few years. He said a special committee is also reviewing to cut-off non-development expenditures and hoped that we would be able to reduce our non-development expenditures up to Rs15 billion this year. The minister said tax evasion was a menace and we have to stop it and also to increase the tax base in order to enhance our resources. He said it was need of the hour to change the ratio of taxes and also make them rationalised according to the market base. He said Punjab Government would not levy any new tax in next budget but it was considering various proposals to make the ratio of taxes rationalised.
