LAHORE The fight for the Inter-Provincial Team Trophy ended in favour of Sindh comprising Sufian Dhaduk, Ali Hai, Waseem Rana and Sajid Khan and by combining well, they are the team champions for 2010, having successfully curbed the advance of teams from Frontier, Federal Capital and Punjab. Indeed, Sindh have excelled in the race as were apparent from their winning margin; they were 33 strokes better than Federal team whereas others were way behind. In the contest for individual national title over four days, 72 holes, at the stately par 72 Royal Palm golf Course, commendable has been the performance of our top national players like Ali Hai, M Safdar, Waseem Rana, M Rehman and Hamza Amin who have indeed made their presence felt on a golf course which offer speed, breaks and adequate undulations, unavailable on many other golf courses of the country. Of special significance has been Ali Hais performance who has get on with his game, effectively, applying all his attributes, like golfing skills, mental strength and luck and seems blessed with the temperament to out golf other hot contenders of substance. His three rounds score of 69+70+70=209 is brilliant stuff and that is why he occupies the top-slot on the leader board. Another raging contender for the national title is Muhammed Safdar who has been playing sensibly, his game-plan looking faultless but at vital turns has been devoid of luck. Golfing wise, the skill application has been admirable and his three round scores 70+70+74=214 are decent enough and could have been just a little more brilliant had some putts dropped in, instead of holding on to the edge of the hole. Going into the final round, the individual top positions show Ali Hai at 209, M Safdar at 214, Waseem Rana at 219, Hamza Amin at 223, Sajid Khan at 225, Sufian Dhaduk at 225, M Rehman at 226, Zohaib Asif 227, Taimur Hassan and Tariq Mehmood 229. In the ladies title, the fight after two rounds is between Ghazala Yasmin, Nushmiya Sukhera, Maryama Khan, Tehmina Rashid, Mehreen Raheel and Tahira Nazir. A fierce contest is in progress with the younger out to dominate over the experienced ones. As for the race in the net competition, the situation gets interesting as the father Azfar Hassan is placed at a score of net 210 and the son Saif Hassan at net 212. other contenders are Ashfaq Lone and Haider Attique.
