LAHORE A five-member dacoit gang including a woman looted cash, laptop and clothes worth over Rs 25.3 million on Sunday morning from a boutique located in Ghalib Market police area and all it was done despite a 24-hour surveillance of the locality by the police. The boutique (shop No-136) located in Mini Market was shifted from Gulberg to the Ghalib Market a day before the bandits made it empty. Sources said the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) SP Umer Virk had got a tip off that the gang would break into the boutique or in a house of the same area in this week especially on Sunday. The CIA and police concerned started surveillance of the area and deployed personnel at several points. A good number of police personnel had taken positions on different points surrounding the houses, outhouses and in field to net the robbers, they added. On Sunday morning, the gangsters including four men, one woman and one minor child riding two cars approached the site early on Sunday and broke into the boutique. According to the modus operandi, they broken the locks of the boutique and looted the precious clothes, laptop, cash and other materials worth Rs 25.3 million. In fact they broken all the locks of my boutique and another boutique as well located in front of my shop but the other boutique was sealed from inside so they perhaps left the idea of looting the other shop, the owner of the boutique Faryal Hussain said. According to her, when they were engaged in looting the valuables, a sweeper approached the site for sanitation and he sacred to see the dacoits robbing the shop. Quoting the statement of the sweeper, Faryal said two cars were parked in front of her boutique; a woman was feeding a kid while four people were collecting the spree. She said the sweeper firstly was near to make noise but they threatened him of dire consequences saying they would subject him to torture if he cried out for help. A dacoity committed in broad daylight exposed what the City Police claimed a 'comprehensive plan, which was chalked out to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. Faryal further said, These police officers equipped with SMGs, night-vision goggles and bullet proof jackets are for which purpose if the guards of the country are unable to give protection cover to the citizens, which is their prime obligation. The dacoits without opening any fire on the policemen or any other narrowly escaped the crime scene. The gang barged into the house on early morning at about 5 to 6 am and completed the dacoity in 15 to 30 minutes. Interestingly, the SHO Ghalib Market along with a good number of police contingents arrived at the crime spot and after collecting necessary evidences returned to the police station.
